Answers: Smile - Nat King Cole, it was played at my dads funeral .
avai maria
None. I find them all intrusive and annoying when silence would better serve the moment.
Lift Up Your Hands
The chorus goes like....

And He said, "Cast your burdens upon Me Those who are heavily laden,
Come to Me, all of you who are tired Of carrying heavy loads,
For the yoke I will give you is easy And My burden is light,
Come to Me and I will give you rest."
Tears In Heaven ~ by Eric Clapton. It was played at my cousin's funeral .. it was her favorite song. :)

Sand and Water

.....I will see you in the light of a thousand stars, I will hear you in the sounds of the waves. I will know you when they come as we all will come, through the doors beyond the grave.
Josh Groban / G4 - to where you are
Nimrod by Elgar and Abide with Me if sung properly with respect.
Everytime We Say Goodbye Lyrics (Rod Stewart)

Rod Stewart - Everytime We Say Goodbye Lyrics

Everytime we say goodbye
I die a little
Everytime we say goodbye
I wonder why a little
Why the gods above me
Who must be in the know
Think so little of me
They allow you to go

When you're near
There's such an air
Of spring about it
I can hear a lark somewhere
Begin to sing about it
There's no love song finer
But how strange the change
From major to minor
Everytime we say goodbye

There's no love song finer
But how strange the change
From major to minor
Everytime we say goodbye
All the grandchildren singing 'sing a rainbow'.(Red & yellow, pink & green...etc) It was the grandad that had died and he had taught to them all. They were all out of tune and upset but they all put so much effort in. It was really touching and personal.
my grandfather-in law passed over two years ago. he was a very private man, we only saw him maybe twice a year. i didn't really know anything about him apart from he travelled twice a year to Europe and he was very straight laced and fussy. i couldn't believe it when at his funeral he had asked for Barry white, my first, my last, my everything to be played. its one of my favourite songs. everyone was gobsmacked but i just couldn't stop laughing and tapping my feet! it was both moving and memorable but not in a sad way.
His grandmother had passed away, and people were paying their last respects, when the teary-eyed 4-year-old suddenly began singing to her : 'Bye bye, my trusted friend'....
...This happened years ago, but I can never forget those truly moving moments.
