so energetic, real, pure from the heart music! im 41 and ive been loving it since the beginning. ramones,new york dolls, clash, sex pistols,mc5, black flag,social D, rancid,distillers,nofx,even greenday n blink 182. it makes me so happy that kids today still keep it alive.n dont forget the great misfits. long live punk!
Answers: I think kids today are making it generic and ruining it, personally. Nothing like rich yuppies wearing *** flaps and patches of bands theyve never heard of, asking "what haircut can i have thatc punk and conservative" pffft. Being 41 you are supposed to have better taste than green day and the distillers!! :) I am glad that all the old bands are touring again, Dr Know, vibrators, circle jerks, suicidal tendancies, DOA, subhumans, stiff little fingers, cramps, so i guess something good came out of all the emo insanity. ya. iron maiden, AC/DC, Accept, Avenged Sevenfold, and Mudvayne are better in my opinion. Punk is awesome! But some people don't like it... and some don't know what their talking about and call it emo. Now it's hard to tell what's real from what's manufactured.
The last couple of bands have the spirit of punk and wear their influences loudly, but they would be the first to say they're not part of punk.
Danzig and Doyle are touring together, so there is a Misfits reunion but no one seems to be making a big deal about it. Social D still pack houses... I'd love to see a hybrid Clash/Social D project, although Simonon is working with Damon from Blur/Gorillaz in The Good the Bad and The Queen.
Stooges are still one of the greatest out there. Better?

i really don't like when people think their music is the best.
its a bit close minded. i love hip hop music personally but that doesn't mean i think there isn't anything "better" just different. i have respect for other types of music, when it was written from the heart and is enjoyed. but it is nice to have such a passion for music =] Yes. there is better then Punk Rock. have you ever heard of Melodic Death Metal. its the best music EVER. So much melody, and its just awesome music.. check this video out to see how kick *** this band is. There called Kalmah

In the same vein, Garage Rock, it is just as good. Also, see Prog Rock. Read the interview of the meeting of the minds between Joe Strummer and Robert Fripp. They had much in common, and both not only knew of each other's music - they were both very familiar with it.
I still listen to the Ramones (It's Alive!), the Clash (Black Market Clash), the Sex Pistols (The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle), the MC 5 (The Big bang! Best Of), and have heard the others you have listed. If you haven't yet - take a listen to the Ruts, the Skids, the Gun Club, the Soft Boys, and the Lyres.
Long live the music, and the musicians who play it! You could try Christian Rock. IT sometimes gets louder than ordinary rock or punk rock (Try Krystal Meyers) kids today arent keeping it alive in my opinion theyre killing it.

they should go back to the roots of punk, iggy, circle jerks, bad brains, ssd, 7 seconds, dead kennedys, misfits...etc...etc. Though I love punk rock, and all the bands you mentioned with the exception of Green Day (hate hate hate), yes, there are better types of music out there than punk.
That's just my opinion, though. Yeah I'm with you. being an old man of 44 i still have the vinyl original and let it rip every now and then. For me its the Pistols (saw them live when they reformed for the Filthy Lucre World Tour) The Clash,Exploited, SLF, and am into ska as well. Raw unadulterated straight to the heart living!! NO .....There isn't ! Punk Rock is what fueled my passion for music back in the day. Very influential even though I do stuff now on the other side completely opposite. It will always be in your blood once you allow it. But it has to be from what was real, Sex Pistols, Stooges, Ramones,etc. Not this commercial ( check out my new Hott Topic ) outfit poser punk predictability I see out and around. But I can't really blame it on a society that wasn't around back then to really Know the difference. I do think it is cool that the music and scene was never forgotten. And lives on in all of us .
