What is Major chords and Minor chords mean on guitar?!

Question:

What is Major chords and Minor chords mean on guitar?

I see these videos on youtube that teaches you how to play some songs, but they talk about like A Minor and G Major, i mean what is that? What do Major and Minor mean?

Answers: major chords are composed using the major scale. minor chords are composed using a minor scale.

the major scale is the do re mi fa (etc.) scale that you are probably very familiar with. minor scales sound a bit darker.

building a chord starts with a triad. triads are made up of the first, third, and fifth note in a scale. the three notes in a triad vary depending on what kind of scale is used.

A-major would be composed of A, C# and E
a-minor would be composed of A, C, and E

the C is not sharp in an a-minor scale, but it IS sharp in an A major scale.

the basic difference in a guitar chord is that one of the notes will be dropped a half step when you play the chord minor as opposed to major. the chord will have a darker tone. you can sometimes avoid the confusion by playing power chords, which do not include the "third" at all. They are chords. Just like you play them in the piano. I prefer Major chords. You know, they're just like do re me fa sol whatever strummed together. If you know how to play a guitar for sure you will know what Major and Minor chords are. Major chords sound more happy, minor chords sound more sad, dark, depressing
