Question:

Why is oldschool Rap so much better then the new rap?

Im talking about the stuff from 80's and 90's. Rap isnt nearly as good as it was in the 90's. What happened.... I mean what changed.

yeah I agree. its much harder to understand what there saying, and there isnt much ryme in the new rap. sounds just like talking. I mean I thought rap was suppose to be ryming. Thats how the older rap was. Plus the newer rap drowns out the singing half time with too much Bass.

yeah TUpac was da man. I love his music. I also like Too Short, and Spice 1. The oldschool Rap was composed and performed by O G's who lived what they where singing about. Feeling to express them selfs was the 1rst motive and then anything else. Most of them had a way of everyday life similar to the lyrics.Today most of them r sellouts and the songs r made by producers with main target the $$$ and rappers r just showmen, thank god nor all of them!! Second reason is that a music gendre that lasts for so long evolves in this case not for the better and finnaly dies unless some new talents come up and we who listen to Rap support THEM and not the fake ones Coz u could still understand the words without having to go and get the lyrics, and its not that wrong in grammar either. Early music was initially about expression, or love of making music.

Modern day is about making a quick buck.
Too bad many (especially) young people are suckered by it all. old school rap was new and exciting and not "played out" as so many tunes now are.. rap has stalled in it's development and will never be a long term dominant genre mostly because it sold out to the bling bliners who esentially flooded the market with troops of THE SAME SORRY FACES all acting out some ridiculous and unrealistic image.. and like I said.. that kind of stuff never lasts.. the music industry knows it so I think it had every intention of selling hip hop out fast.. soon it will falter and all the kids who now love it will go back to raving..

I grew up in the hip hop scene.. but I might start raving soon too.. PAC DIED, IF HE WAS STILL AROUND ALL THESE FAKE RAPPERS WOULD NOT BE AROUND! HE WAS JUST SO DEEP AND RAPPED ABOUT THE REALEST THINGS, HE COULD DRAW YOU INTO HIS SONGS THOUGH AMAZ1N LYRICIZM + POETRY.
R I P THE GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME Because of money, its not done for the sake of the music, its for da love of money. Because the new rappers just do it for the money and not the music. All they talk about in their songs are girls, sex, and money. I like old school rap but I seriously hate the new rap artists! Like Nas says in HIP-HOP IS DEAD:

Everybody sound the same, commercialize the game
Reminiscin' when it wasn't all business

I'm guessing what happened was that with the success of 2PAC, N.W.A, BIGGIE and so on, rap became mainstream. Gangsta rap would be dead if it wasn't for The Game... listen to his version of Straight Out Of Compton

If 2PAC hadn't been shot Hip-Hop would be allot different today. R.I.P until the end of time... Oldschool rap was made for people who were concerned, a lot of it was about change

It had substance

People could relate

Now it's about repeating the same thing every five seconds
(Ay bay bay)
(Watch me YUAHHHH)
?!?!?!?!??! you already kno.
