What do you think destroyed the rap game?!

Question:

What do you think destroyed the rap game?

Tell me. I know the answer, but I wanna see what y'all think. I'll put details on my answer down after I get a couple of yours.

The general idea is that rap went mainstream after 2 Pac & Bigz went down. Mef & Wu are still reppin', but everybody else is runnin' outta fuel. Common is still cool, you don't see much Kweli or Mos. There is NO underground presence in the mainstream culture, which sucks.

I had enough of Soulja Boi & Jibbz. I honestly never thought it could get any worse than Lil' Bow Wow vs. Lil' Romeo, but I guess I was wrong. All people care about is money, b*tches, and gettin' "crunk". Even Nas has like nothing on his last album worth bumpin'. I mean, what's the deal? He uses the same beat 3x by producers? (Inna-Gadda-Vida/Charlie's Angels Theme). I don't get it.

Even producers ONLY use sampling!!! Like they look up2 puffy more than they do RZA. Where do you think the game went wrong.

I'll make comments on lyricism in a few. CyaL8r, Dogz.

2) Master P's No Limit Era 1998-2000

3) Cash Money's Bling Bling Era 1999- Late 2000

OK Now The Year Is 2001 And Nas And Jay Are At War And I Like To Call This Era The King Of New York Battle Era Turns Back To A " Better Time" But The Beef Settled Down Around Late 2002 And Then With More Focus On

4) G-Unit's supremacist Era 2003-2005

5) Dirty South CRUNK Grilll Tooth Candy Paint Car 2005- Present /Present - ? The Mindless Bubble Gum Pop-Rap/ Little Kiddies Running Hip Hop Ay Bay Bay / Lip Gloss/ Crank Dat/ Wipe Me Down (All Little Kids )
I Guess This Is Why My Favorite Era Of Hip Hop Ended In 1997

My favorite era of hip-hop is what I like to call "Post Rakim influence - Pre Biggie's death" (1988-1997)
1988: "What Would Rakim Do?" Year
1989: Gangsta Rap Explosion
1990: Alternative Emergence
1991: Positivity and Afrocentricity
1992: The birth of G-Funk
1993: Hardcore & Alternative Utopia
1994: The Illmatic Year
1995: Illmatic Leftovers
1996: Year of the Sleepers
1997: Real Hip-Hop's Last Hurrah hip hop aint destroyed...but theres artist like soulja boy...hurricane chris....etc. that affect it very badly I think that after tupac left the game hip hop was dead. the people today do only care about the money.Everything on tupac's songs had meaning . The songs out now dont mean a thing. I TOTALLY AGREE...we need some more originality people!!! is it just me or does every song nowadays say the same thing (money, b*******, and the rest) i liked rap, but now its just the same lyrics repeated over and over by lame people who think that just because they can rhyme they can sell a couple of albums..
we need the good rappers back man...

and if i have to hear party like a rockstar, soulja boy, or hurricane cris one more time....im gonna murder someone!!! 2 BE REAL .THE SOUTH SPECIFICALLY THE SOUTH EAST.after pac died all the hard rappers stepped back and all the bitchmade rappers stepped up whack @ss artists like dem franchise boyz, D4L,yung berg , yung joc and lil mama definitely destroyed hip hop just making all this stupid snap music garbage is a disgrace to hip hop and i just don't see and understand how people can listen to this type of trash, people who listen to this doesn't know real hip hop straight up. all the dance songs, everyday theres a new dance out the no matter wat it iz like the stupidest things Record execs, ceos, and mainstream dj's is killing hip hop, and it use to be more versatile back in the day when they mix underground with east coast, west and other parts of the country, now they mostly play local cats and artist that record exec pay big money for. There are some solid peeps out there put you have to dig, thank god for the internet. If it wasn't for computers I would have never found out about my main group little brother. What destroyed the rap game truely is file sharing. See when I can just download and album instead of buying it the artist don't see as much sales wise from an album. Truthfully they don't put there hearts into albums any more. What for, a person to download it and they see to cash for it. Now for the New York fans rap hasn't particurly declined just because of the South. See the south haveing a chance is what makes hip hop creative and hot. Lets be real "New York" at one point west coast rap was hot. (God curse them days) If New York wants its crown back there gonna have to chalk up the lost on album sales and put more into marketing a good album. Back in the day there was a big campain when someone put out an album. Now a days you hear a album came out by accident. The whole 50 vs Kanye was great for hip hop and a great promotional tool. If hip hop takes more time to be creative in promotion we'll be fine. The Problem Straight Up Is There Is Nothing Left To Rap About. Every Songs Has The Same Messages And Portray The Same Images. Thats Why Some Songs May Be Hot But Dont Last Cuz They Are The Same. There Are Few Songs That Are Left That Last And They Are Mostly By Old Skool Artists. TH0SE ADDiTi0NAL DETAiLS B0UT ANT ARE FUNNY. i hear ya! all i know is that rap back in the daze waz de shitz. mugz like cool g. rap, big daddy kane, queen latifah, CL smooth & pete rock, run dmc, public enemy, and other rappers in that time frame. now, rap is weak. Well, we can blame the internet for ruining rap. There is no more excitement for new releases because you can hear music before it even comes out. You don't need to buy c.d's, all you have to do is download your favorite songs from the c.d., and chuck the rest of the c.d. That's one reason I can think of how rap has been ruined. hip-hop was strong as hell from 94-99 with people like Onyx, DMX, Kurupt, Canibus. In about 2001, it became ok to be wack. "HEY I CAN DANCE TO IT SO IT'S COOL" or "HEY IT SELLS SO ITS COOL" nah dawg phuk that.

The constant combining of R&B and Hip-Hop watered down Hip-Hop heavily. Everybody thought it was ok to do because they're both forms of "black music" that kids like. But Wu-Tang Clan predicted R&B would kill Hip-Hop if you listen to Wu-Tang Forever Disc 2. Radio stations are stereotypically ran by people who think Hip-Hop and R&B were the same things, and the "fans" accepted it.

So to answer your question:
Terrestrial Radio, R&B Music, and the so-called "fans" did it.

Plus assholes like Souljah B*tch and Hurristain Piss don't help either.

And today, you have WORKED BEEFS like its the WWE. Kanye West vs 50 Cent was a plot that everybody bought into. You don't even know who has real beef anymore, and the people that do have these beefs are wack as hell.

And one last edit, females buying records needs to STOP. Typical females consistantly buying their favorite records and their boyfriends downloading what they like is increasing the sales of a Souljah B*tch and and killing the sales of an ill MC like Sean Price.

There are still ill MC's but you gotta look REAL hard.

SEAN P! I know nothing about rap, crap!
