Question:

What is the most obscure example of music plagarism you've heard?

there was a Capri Sun drink commercial that had the same riff from rage against the machine "sleep now in the fire"

and theres this car commercial that has the same sort of synthesizer note arrangment from that bubba sparxxx song 'back in the mud' so that must mean that it was from something else too, unless he didnt sample...

Answers: George Harrison was successfully sued in a prolonged suit that began in 1971 for plagiarizing the Chiffons' "He's So Fine" for the melody of his own "My Sweet Lord."

In early 2007, Timbaland was alleged to have plagiarized several elements (both motifs and samples) in the song "Do It" on the 2006 album Loose by Nelly Furtado without giving credit or compensation. See 2007 Timbaland plagiarism controversy.

In early 2006, The writers of Lee Hyori's song "Get Ya" were accused of plagarizing Britney Spears' Do Somethin'. This eventually led Lee Hyori to stop promoting the song and contributed to the failure of the song and its album, Dark Angel.

In 1994 John Fogerty was sued for self plagiarism after leaving Fantasy Records and pursuing a solo career with Warner Brothers. Fantasy still owned the rights to the CCR library and sound. Saul Zaentz, the owner of Fantasy, claimed Fogerty's song "Old Man Down the Road" was a musical copy of the Creedence song "Run Through the Jungle." The court made a landmark decision when it ruled that an artist cannot plagiarize himself. try any rapper today compared to Tupac and Biggie >> I have an album (So what if I'm standing in apricot jam ~ by a guy named Howard Eynon) & one of the songs has some very strong similarities to the 'streets of london' song written by Ralph Mctell. im still pissed about the blatant copying that gym class heroes did.
they didn't even bother to acknowledge Supertramp.

Blatant ripoff of the Beach Boys - Wouldn't it be nice I was watching "Chuck" the other night and the sound track was nothing but the riff from The Violent Femmes's Gone Daddy Gone which in turn lifted an entire verse from an old Muddy Waters tune. i think that san fransiscan nights by the animals and leave me by wilco sound similar
though it seems to be a natural chord progression How about Don't Let Me Down by the Beatles and Don't Let Me Down by Bad Company? Just about every chord riff Steve Miller used in his hits were plagiarized. The beginning of "Rocking Me", for instance, is a ripoff of Free's "All Right Now". Listen to it next time and you'll hear it. "The Stake" is "Rocky Mountain Way". I could go on and on. here in madrid there's a tv ad for the cheapo supermarket 'lidl' that uses the tune from 'our house' by madness...
instead of "our-house...", it's "lee-del..."
