Does anyone know some sellout bands?!

Question:

Does anyone know some sellout bands?

i'm just curious.

Answers: no such thing. bands form to make money. they need to make money or they will have to break up and get real jobs. every band wants to make it big...and when a small band succeeds, their 'hard-core' fans who have been there from the start feel cheated. now, this band they loved is mainstream and teeny-bopper 16 year olds are listening to the same 'underground' music they once loved.

its crap. its a bands goal to 'sell out' and people that call bands sell outs simply don't understand the nature of the industry.

i guess when a band completely changes its style to appeal to a broader demographic, that is selling out. a couple examples of that are bands that used to be punk...like limp bizkit or sugar ray. Metallica been accused of selling out more than once
Fall Out Boy. Beatles Almost all of them these days. It f-ing sucks. What happened to good, passionate musicians?

I miss Metallica, Puddle of Mudd, Fuel, the GOOD days of Staind, the GOOD days of Linkin Park, Rammstein...

why does everyone want to hear cookie cutter music now? Has the majority lost their souls? My Chemical Crap is a total sellout. afi Metallica is the only one I know of. They were great before, but they just sold out afterwards.

Bands like Fall Out Boy were corporate rock from the beginning. atreyu fo sho' if anybody on here says Green Day, i will whip out my machete & slit their throats....
enough said.

i agree with the dude who said that all bands want to become successful at one point....i mean, if u have ur opinions then fine, but as for me....no...dont even go there (and idc about if u call any other bands sellouts, dont even touch on the Green Day subject.) I really hate when people try to give bands this label, what do you expect them to do, refuse too many people to buy thier albums? If they are good at what they do, they are going to gain popularity. I do hate when there is a really great band that some of these mindless drones wouldn't give the time of day to, that is until they make a video or get on the radio, then all of the sudden everyone likes them, and it's not "cool" to like them anymore. Screw that, like what you like, be happy for bands that make it. All of them. haters call them Sell Out Boy
fans call them succesful... I don't really believe in that concept. I think it's just some people trying to put themselves on a pedestal over performers that make it big.

The only time I get upset with a band is when they compromise their values to sell records. In which case, 80s hair metal was a genre of sell-outs. just for the fun of it:
"I guess it doesn't matter, I guess it doesn't matter anymore
'Cause you're gonna go to the record store
You're gonna give'em all your money
Radio plays what they want you to hear
They tell me it's cool but I just don't believe it...
Sell out, with me oh yea, sell out, with me tonight
Record company's gonna give me lots of money
And everything's gonna be all right" -- "Sell Out" Reel Big Fish

Bands can "sell out" by playing music that isn't their type just to sell records.
But it's irrelevant. All bands "sell out" once they get on the radio depending on who you talk to and what they think of the new music. It's just how it goes ;)
