current events politics because its a way to get kids aware of current issues without being forced to read the paper or watch the news.
also life on the streets so that kids can learn from the rappers mistakes without actually experiencing them.
i also like peaceful messages but i know they will not appeal to the people as they are not "tough" enough.
i'd rather have the song telling a true story out of experience than have it preach safe sex and stuff...people are more inclined to listen to the truth more than a superficial, self righteous preacher. I like the conscious songs. I love Common & Mos Def, etc.
I also like the ongoing debate as to who was the best rapper, Tupac or Biggie. Actually,,,,I like the type of hiphop the leaves me with some type of message or something to think about...WHY DO YOU ASK,,,,????? I like when a question poses the relation between hip hop and our current society. I like it when it has deap meaning ... like Mockingbird - Emeninm Niecy: The word is CONSCIENCE, and that's also the type of hip-hop message I prefer. It really depends on how I am feeling...i am listening to Diary of A Madman Clinto Sparks Eminem mixtape...which is a mixture of alot of different styles.....someday I wanna bang some T-Town and swerve around the city....sometime I wanna hear some reality in my bars....sometimes I wanna zone out on Aesop Rock...othertimes I need to feel good with the Liks...just depends....Dont Be Hatin!! safe sex?? lmaoo. slick rick kinda did that on hey young world but that was a good conscious typa song. i like rap music that tells a story... i don't care what the story is about as long as the lyrics are delivered properly. but to answer your question... i like hearing about progression in the african american community or overcoming trials and tribulations. i also like hearing different perspectives about how the world is run... so street politics.
