Where have all the good song writers, music composers gone???!

Question:

Where have all the good song writers, music composers gone???

So many countless fantastic, unforgettable tunes and songs from the 60s to the 80s, that are regularly sung at karaoke lounges, American Idol contests, etc.that will still be evergreen for the next half a century? What happened these past 20 years? Or have i somehow missed them? Can someone suggest a few really hot ones?Comments on old favourites welcomed!

Answers: It's not WHERE are they (they're here like always) but WHY aren't the right people bringing them to stardom??

It's the corporate execs who are looking for the next Britney Spears, the girl who can't sing but has big boobs, no one cares about the girl who can write her own music or has a great set of pipes (think Babs Streisand).

Talent is not appreciated in our culture...so why are we suprised the truly talented are overshadowed by Lindsay Lohans of the world? Agreed,,not much of what is being spewed out into the charts is going to be played 50 years from now,,,,,the golden age of good tunes is long gone,, The good songwriters can't afford demo's. They disappeared when not talent crap like rap become popular. ...sadly, John Lennon was killed many years ago. (but his music will live forever) The reason all the good songs are gone because these days hip hop and rap have taken over the music industry. Because of the style of hip hop sex sells so hence all good songs from the 60's to the 80's are gone. Don't know but I want to know who can write music, and I could write the words.
We are all a homing beacon trying to get home to God! Go to my web site and you can listen to my emotional songs like the one below.

Heaven on Earth
By Mike McCracken

When I’m feeling empty
I fill it with your love
When I’m feeling lonely
You’re the one I dream of

The Earth is full of people
Who need a little love too
I’ll just keep this simple
I love you

(chorus)
I wonder if you miss me
Sometimes, I think out loud
And I know how to be lonely
In a crowd
Sometimes, I get to thinking
What love’s really worth
What it really means
To have Heaven on Earth

I’ll work my whole life through
To buy you pretty things
And I’ll always love you
No matter what it means

Sometimes, I dream you’re with me
And realize it’s not true
Then realize, I’m only
A dream away from you

For love’s the greatest treasure
That any man can give
And with you I’m sure
Is the only way to live.

Warning: My songs will affect your emotions. Name me one band in recent years that have got the lot.
Cracking vocals & guitar and drum solos are a thing of the past. Phil Vassar is an awesome singer/songwriter, and he plays the piano, plus, though you probably dont care about this, hes really really hot. Well, most of the songwriters from the 60's died. And today, most singers dont write their own songs so teh songs have no passion. As Bob Seger put it 'todays music aint got no soul.' http://stash.nugs.net/stash.asp...

You will find loads of great music on this website and its all free. I hear ya! Hoyt Axton and Eddie Rabbit wrote some great stuff, but they, along with alot of other great writers are gone! It sucks.
You know guys like Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson have a stash of songs they have written somewhere. Wish they would dig them out for us craving a 3-D country song! I'm so sick of the "pretties" with about as much talent as I do taking over the radio waves. In my opinion, they are fluff and won't be around in 5 years.
Tom T. Hall, where are you! We miss you! Please save us from this generic country! Cody Canada of Cross Canadian Ragweed is a great writer/ performer also Stoney Larue is great all around. Here's a few of my favorites:

Gary Allan (yes, he does write some of his own)

Matt Warren (has a few songs on the new Gary Allan cd)

Lee Brice (he wrote Garth Brooks new hit)

Jennifer Hanson

Mark Nesler

Pat Green
