The Secret History is a great starting point which opens with the hilarious National Express National Express - what a great song. I love the line about the woman having an ar$e the size of a small country. i think one of us is confused. are we refering to the divine comedy by dante? that is inferno purgatorio and paradiso? A great group with intelligent songs, but songs which also had a humorous and eccentric edge to them. What I like is that they use so many different influences, and this is reflected in the subject matter of their tunes: British transport, new wave cinema, fin de sicele artistry, 19th century literature, history. As it says in my Rough Guide to Rock music " The Divine's Comedy's palette has a place for them all. " Yes I love them. Neil Hannon is very talented. Oh my...I have NEVER seen a Divine Comedy question on here. I am a HUGE fan of Neil Hannon and all he does. Every single DC album is just fantastic. "Absent Friends" is in my top 10 albums of all time list - it is absolutely wonderful as is "A Short Album About Love", "Casanova", "Fin De Sicle", "Regeneration" and all the rest. Have you heard "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish" from the "Hitch hiker's Guide To The Galaxy" soundtrack. Joby Talbot did the music for the movie and Niel Hannon sings on this song at the end of the it - really witty and funny. I have really enjoyed all the Father Ted episodes on DVD for the last 6 years or so and absolutely love "My Lovely Horse".
I have live DVD from the "Absent Friends" tour at The Albert Hall. Excellent.

My favorite DC song is "Our Mutual Friend"

It is really nice to find people who appreciate music as good as The Divine Comedy.....thanks! the man's a genius of the highest order. Its all about Absent Friends... SERIOUSLY.

And I knew that. You can tell in the dream its him singing. ^_^

It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago and one random night beforehand me and my mate got pretty drunk and decided everyone that i'd LOVE to appear at my birthday an invite... so... guillemots, radiohead, bill bailey... divine comedy was one of them, and I got a reply!!!

Do you want to come to my 21st birthday party? My birthday is 19th september, national talk like a pirate day. We can dress up as pirates... And play music in my dads back garden. And he's got lots of apple trees so we usually play 'apple cricket' this time of year. it'll be fun... promise!

HAHAAHAHAHAHA.... that was a highlight. Yes I like them. I once saw Neil on a train! Sadly under-rated and doesn't deserve the slatings he gets.

I think he's just too clever!
