Besides taking vocal classes. What's another way to start?
Answers: Besides taking vocal lessons from a professional (which can be very costly)...I suggest purchasing vocal lesson CDs and DVDs. I would also learn how to read sheet music and sight read. It helps a lot. Here is a link for some Vocal CDs:

I used to be a terrible singer last year, and I felt jealous that GOD didn't give me a throat to sing good, so I just practice and practice, and my mom notice that my singing voice improved. It's all about practicing, but you must practice correctly or you might ruin your singing voice. take it easy, don't get into those "heavy metal" yet; sing soft songs like "besame mucho" or "the house of the rising sun." You must know how to listen first to know how to sing.
