okay, remember that i said gerard changed. again, i dont live with him so i'm not sure but it seems like he did to me. used to he never said anything bad about anyone and certianly not about other genres of music. anyone in the music industry knows not to talk trash about another kind of music cuz lots of their fans probably like that music and they dont wanna lose fans. also, alot of my chem fans are emo (ug, i hate generalizing) but alot are, but i'm not saying all are. so why did gerard say that emo music is a pile of s**t and its f***ing garbage? that totally doesnt seem like him. i mean, i hate being labeled as emo too cuz i dont like people telling me who i am, but i dont talk trash about emo people, so why is he saying that about emo music. i mean he could've even said that without being as harsh as he did but still saying what he meant and it wouldnt have sounded so bad, but its like he just lashed out at it kinda. and dont leave me hate answers cuz i'll sugarcoat this later. mcr chick i see ur point, but i think he said it a little harsh, you know. again, please dont be mad at me, i just think its harsh. its hard to explain by just typing. plus u have limited letters to work with on here, so people often misunderstand me. but anyway, i love gerard and i always will i just think he was a little harsh sounding, thats all.

OKAY NO OFFENSE but Gerard has always said he hates the genre Emo since like the band was first called it. so its not new! i heard him say it back in 2004. this recent time he said it was like the fourth time i heard him say it. so get over it. he doesnt care what people think of him and hes not afraid to speak his mind. im not mad at you Most emos do not think of themselves as Emos so, although he is alienating his entire fan base, they wont notice. Go MCRchick! That is EXACTLY what I was about to say.
I mean seriously...Gerard has ALWAYS been against the 'emo' label. He has also always wanted his fans to be themselves, no matter what people say about them. Most people who consider themselves 'emo' are just followers who are going with what they think is some sort of new trend. The MTV crowd basically.
Gerard has gone through some tough times. It wouldnt be normal if he stayed the same. But he is still an amazing person. He still has the same values. And he still cares about his fans.
I think hes doing MUCH better since the whole Eliza thing was over. Lyn-Z is great for him. She is helping him soo much. I wish the best to both of them! No one's mad at you for asking the question, I'm sure lots of people were wondering the same. I think Gerard 'lashed' out about emo music because he hates being labeled. My Chem has been labeled 'emo' for quite a while now and I think he was being so direct about it to show people that's not what he is [or wants to be called]. Like he was trying to stop people calling them 'emo' once and for all. My god, I feel Gerard's pain.
I hated it when people call My Chemical Romance emo.
They are really not.
They've been saying that they're not emo since forever and nobody has been listening so it eventually pissed him off. And yes emo is a pile of crap...nowadays anyways. Maybe when emo was started, it had a genuine meaning. But now emo can't even be defined properly.
Trust me; if you ask 5 different people what emo means you'll get 5 different answers. I really can't blame Gerard for not wanting to be associated with a genre/culture that's going down in flames. one reason is that My Chem is kept being called emo which they are not, and i guess he got pissed off with people and brought it out
