What songs do you feel should celebrate your life?!

Question:

What songs do you feel should celebrate your life?

Since it's Friday I didn't want to ask "what songs should be played at your funeral?"...I don't want to bring the room down today!

So hopefully this lightens it a little, anyway. Are there songs that you would want others to remember you, and happy memories of you, when they hear them?

I think you & Deke were separated at birth. You know what's a bummer. My mom likes to bring this up from time to time. Nothing more awkward than talking to mom about her death (she's completely healthy, but you know what I mean). It's like bring out the you and dad sex stories. Tell me all about my conception. Let's just table the death thing for now.

Anyhoo, for the most part I think it would be cool to just keep it light. Stuff like the Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine (Simon and Garfunkel). I guess for songs to celebrate my life I would want songs that represent the happier stuff. Probably Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours by Stevie Wonder (which is my wife and my song) and while on that theme The Night Time Is The Right Time by Ray Charles (our first dance at the wedding, I'm a horrible dancer and the Stevie tune is too fast to not look like a jerk). Something off the Elastica (that someone had recently gotten) record comes to mind in remembering when I was in high school and we were ending spring break with nothing to show for it so we told our parents we were going to a concert in Santa Barbara and ended up shooting off to Vegas to get a cheeseburger and come home. I'm not really sure, I've only really got the songs with my wife that are really identify able as having specific meaning, but I guess I would want people to try to keep it light and get into the happy memories as opposed to playing XO or Asleep by the Smiths or anything like that. There is only one song I've ever heard that has perfectly summed up my life.

"Sometimes it's a b1tch, sometimes it's a breeze" by Stevie Nicks. Ugh! No matter how much of a happy spin you put on this, it still comes out as what do you want to be played at your funeral. :-( The last time I answered a question very similar to this, I said just bring out a TV and play some Seinfeld reruns. Guess I'll stick to music this time.

All right, how about Bela Lugosi's Dead? That would top my list. Let me think of some other ones, hmmm.

Rob Zombie - The Great American Nightmare
NIN - Into The Void
Lush - Light From a Dead Star i have already decided that Rise Against - Give It All is gonna be played at my funeral! "Don't You Know Who I Think I am" and "Hum Hallelujah"
both by fall out boy I never thought of what songs I would like at my funeral to celebrate my life. One of my friends passed away with a terminal illness, she prepared herself of the songs, people who she would like at her funeral. Its a personal choice, maybe if I pass with a terminal illness I would prepare a box that would be opened prior to my funeral service with my wishes, if I was to die suddenly I would like it up to my family hmmm deftones-be quiet and drive is like my favortie song and so is deftones-lotion!!!!!! PLAY THAT **** AT MY FUNERAL!!! I'm not sure if this would be played at my funeral, but it pretty much sums up my world. My wife says they were spying on me when they wrote this song:

Poison - "Tragically Unhip"

Check out the lyrics:

I'm uneducated
My clothes outdated
I don't stand politically correct
I still hate small talk
Love fast cars and hard rock
Still like talkin' about sex
I should be expressing
All my inner repression
I guess depression's now a cultural thing
My record company says
Blow my brains out my head
I make the cover of every magazine

Chorus:
Step inside my nightmare
Welcome to my trip
I cannot pretend and I will not defend
Why this good old boy's so tragically unhip

I still like bad girls
Who rock me hard in my world
Its monkey see and monkey do
I got an old waterbed
I like to trip into the dead
I've keep a poster of KISS on my wall
I still curse, smoke, drink and toke
and make love in the back of my car

Chorus
Solo

I like that home grown
Mind blowing
You're bringing
R rolling
They see strange stalking
Mind stopping
*** swinging
Street walking
Floozies

NP: "Shadowland" - Vaughn

Edit:
Sookie... I'm not sure about those lyrics there at the end. The lyrics sites always screw that stuff up. Oh, and just for a point of reference, I really do still have a poster of Kiss on the wall in our home office. I'd go with

Dropkick Murphys - Barroom Hero I can't imagine ANY scenario where you would bring the room down, Sookie.

It's cliché as hell, but I can't think of anything else right now -- "Rock and Roll All Nite" by KISS. Paul Stanley himself says that song is the 'rock and roll national anthem', and I believe him to be correct. Love song by 311 If I was to die today (which I sure hope doesn't happen), I'd play the following two:

Part of the Problem by J Church

Burn down the buildings, riot in the streets,
Just stay out of my neighbourhood,
Carry your banners in your protest march,
But I don't feel it does any good

I might agree with everything that you do,
But if I'm part of the problem,
Then you're part of the problem too

Stumble home drunk in the middle of the night,
I try to walk where it is light,
Despite my sight, I feel all right,
I know that it's not very bright

I might agree with everything that you do,
But if I'm part of the problem,
Then you're part of the problem too

I'm not sure what you're asking,
But I know that I don't have the answer,
As if it makes any difference to you

I'm reading, writing, doing something,
But at the end of the day I'm nothing,
I can throw my life away from Monday to Friday,
But I will not live like you
