at some point this afternoon, Mychal Bell "Jena 6" was released from jail...The DA will not charge him as an adult, but he still has a case in juvenile court this december

the same day Well actually I do think that there should be some type of punishment for the boys that beat the kids...But Fred your wrong the white kid got beat for yelling out racial slurs...He didnt hang the nooses but he did participate by being on the bandwagon...But the boys shouldnt have went to jail unless the kid that got beaten up pressed charges and the charges shouldnt have been that severe...Also the school should have taken care of this before it got out of hand like MICHEAL C said...I think there should be justice but for both of the victims, tho. But Fred im feeling you on your points that we need to get involved...If its true that the black ppl didnt show up to the jury then thats ashame. But here another question how could a group of ppl be racist with no power?(not saying that u said the boys were racist) It shows that without the power those boys beating up that kid would have gotten them no where. Look at what happened...The white judge and jury punished them to the highest. Black ppl can't oppress we dont run this country "they" do. So if they want it to go their way they can make it go their way.
Now what happen in Maryland a year ago...A black KID(not man) got beat to DEATH by a group of white MEN...And were released the same night...This KID was a high school football star and the 4 MEN where known for being trouble makers...Now whats wrong with that picture. To this day I dont think these white men got anytime for that. Well I guess the Jena white folks will be happy that all the coloreds will finally be leaving....
But I still dont understand why it almost took a year for this to get any national coverage?

The Jena 6 case is very interesting, in fact I was just talking about this with a ton of people the other day...
A lot of people do not realize, becuase the media has failed to report it, but events leading to the beating started as early as August 2006, all in all you can look it up, I won't bore anyone..the fact of the matter is...the
School Staff is to blame, they did nothing to stop the segregation that was going on in this school and they knew about it, the principal did nothing about the "White Tree" and the superintendent did not expell students, and when you get this type of harassment, you are going to get this kind of reaction. Not saying it is justified, but true. I'm glad. Better one of them then none of them be free...you know? But he should have been released without people having to pay bail because if a white boy kicked a black guy's @$$, do you think he would be in jail right now? I'm just happy he is out, and they should free the others WITHOUT someone having to pay bail. im gonna catch heat for this but whatever...
his release is not good news. Since I got all the facts, I realized how badly the media misconstrued the entire story.the only person that was racist in the case was Mychal Bell. first off the kid that the 6 beat up had nothing to do with hanging the nooses, he was just a random white kid. at the time of the attack, he was on probation for assault and had two priors so it would make sense that he would be sent to jail for a long period of time. the "all white racist jury" is actually the only people who reported for jury duty, all of the black ppl didnt even show up for jury duty so u cant say that the jury was biased. Mychal bell's own public defender was black, but its sad to see what the media can do, if mychal bell went to jail, he might be forced to change his life, but now he feels like he did nothing wrong.
CONSCIENCE- well, not racists, just that that is the only real racist part of the case, they beat this kid up with the only reason being that he was white. I think we really need to check ourself as a community when we play the race card, because otherwise we cause a lot of unnnecessary animosity.
HNIC- well, he did have a concussion, and it was six on one. but yeah, that point can be argued holy ish fred....you saying that the Jena 6 were actually the racists!!! I agree it is fucked up what is going on but the six kids that beat up that dude aren't completely off the hook, at least from the report I heard, they were beating this kid while he was unconscious. I'm not saying there should be a murder rap (he got out after like 3 hours at the hospital), but I just don't think they are 100% innocent. That's good that they aren't trying him as an adult, which would make no sense. Hopefully he gets off light, but I don't think they should be completely exonerated if the report I heard was accurate. HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm just glad this case went public cause if it didn't, these guys lives and families would have been destroyed. This case is a perfect example to show that racism is still alive. I think it also shows that when we come together and people get involved in issues like this we can fight the system and make a change. I'm very thankful that Mychal Bell came out of jail and much blessings to the guys involved in the case and to their families. I prayed for this boy, because he is the same age as my son. Goes with saying, 'strenghth in numbers and with belief in God" all things good will prevail. Black folks have to step back, like we have been doing in recent, and realize the dream that our ancestors had for us, which simply to educate ourselves and support each; evident with the release of Mychal Bell. If we dont support each other in the long haul; who do u think will; it surely wont we the white man. It was very easy for me to personally be affected by this case, you know why? I looked at Mychal Bell as being my own son. We have to look at each others children as being our own, because as long as we are living in America we have to depend on and take care of one another.
