and i dont mean Bass guitar, because I guess the obvious answer would be paul mccartney then, but if you have someone better, that could be extra credit ;) Maybe not the best, my definite favorite is Jerry Garcia.

Aside from the other answers (such as David Gilmour, Buddy Guy, John Lennon and so forth), Nick Drake was brilliant at what he did. His guitar flowed beautifully and his voice was perfect for the style of folk music he did. Chuck Schuldiner (he uses death grunts) Patrick Stump. Yeah, Eric Clapton is pretty good with both. But I think his guitar skills are much better than his singing.

I personally like Chuck Berry. He has a great voice, and his guitar skills are absolutely superb. His influence is obvious to 60's rock artists is obvious, especially with the Beach Boys.

Also, David Gilmour. He's a great guitarist, and he's pretty good with the vocals.

I would say John Lennon as well, but he's more of a rhythm guitarist. And Paul McCartney is a guitarist. He's also a bassist and pianist among others. Of course, he's most famous as a bassist though. Vince Neil is skillful at this. Zakk Wylde jack johnson Zappa. Jimmy Hendrix Wow! good question , cause theres some great guitarists that don't sing. and some fantastic singers....well...you know. Off the top of my head , i'll give you - Dave Meniketti, Gary Moore , and John Sykes. You can "Wiki" those if you'd like... John Fogerty Garrett of Farsighted of course!
no he's not famous-but he should be Joe Satriani
Yngwie malsteem
B.B. King
Edge i'd have to say either ygnwie malmsteen or zakk wylde... Well, Clapton is good. But, he's only one of the best. Anyone from the Beatles (excluding McCartney) is a good singer. John Lennon, George Harrison are pretty good singers comparing them to some of the crap we hear today. A decent singer today is Adam Levine from Maroon 5. Look him up in youtube. He's phenomenal at guitar and can sing in studio and out. Anthony Keidis of the Chili Peppers is a good singer, but can't perform perfectly live. Good rapper, though. I wouldn't say anyone from the Rolling Stones, since they tend to yell in the mic a bit. My personal favorite is Steven Tyler. This guy is amazing. Listen to Dream On. Classic Tyler. However, he can't play guitar. But his performances live and in studio are ridiculous. There are a bunch, but I gotta go with Clapton. He can play the guitar. Really good. At the same time, he has that same voice live and in the studio. It can't get any better than that. I've always had tingles sent down my spine when David Gilmour plays the guitar and his voice goes perfect with his style. Do you know what I mean? Kurt Cobain played the guitar and sang...too bad hes not here anymore.
