Is there any free downloadable program that teaches you how to sing each music note?
i need to memorize what each note sounds like and i need to learn how to identify the music note. is there any thing? i downloaded one before and you sing on the microphone and it tells you which note you're singing, if you're flat, etc. but i lost it when i got a new computer. does anyone know what i'm talking about?
Answers: This is not the way to learn music. Unless you have perfect pitch, you can't memorize the sound of each note. What you CAN do is learn relative pitch. This is the technique used by most accomplished singers. Relative pitch works on intervals, so that if someone plays you a particular note (say a middle C) you can then use the intervals to find any other note (a G is a fifth above the C, an Eb is a minor third, etc).
This technique will help you sing with an accompanist, as you will be able to get the basic pitch from the accompaniment, and it will help you stay in key even without an accompanist. (If you are singing by yourself, with no instrument, it doesn't matter if you start on C, or on Bb or on D or any other note, as long as you keep the relative pitches correct after that starting point).
