Treat as a question but I need your views. I beleive this is one of the massive list of amazing offerings by this blessed band. Esp the video on youtube where Edge plays guitar is awesome. The lyrics too are brilliant. What do you think?
Answers: yup, they are truly blessed, edge is a great guitarist and bono is one hell of a vocalist, over-all they are a great band U2 are U2...i'm Irish and i'm over them but you sound loopy! Huge fan of their 80s and early 90s stuff. Didn't listen to much after Zooropa. They still have some good songs every now and then. I love the Joshua Tree though.
The Edge is a very innovative and great guitarist. Bono's a great vocalist, but I think his voice has faded a little bit in the last decade. He's a smoker after all. band wagon jumping in the 80s and plain poor afterwards.
edges so called original guitar work is stolen from the indie scene of the early 80s (see echo and the bunnymen)
they proceeded to sell themselves to the irish american market at every opportunity (the hands that built america,rattle and hum).
they are a lesson in marketing and greed tho i conceed they made some good pop music (anyone can stumble across a good tune or 2 in 30 years of making music) they are a horrible example of a stadium rock band.
now ofcourse they are always introduced as a lengendary band,funny how that happens all of a sudden isnt it? reminds me of micheal jackson and his kingof pop promotion. U2 used to be a great band back in the 80's. The completely lost me after Rattle & Hum. New Years Day, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Where The Streets Have No Name, Two Hearts Beat As One, 40, Gloria, Party Girl, Electric Co.,Bullet The Blue Sky, When Love Comes To Town are all great songs. U2 hasn't put out anything remotely close to any of these songs. How can anybody call Lemon a great U2 song is beyond me. That whole K-Mart, Pop Mart, Pop Tart whatever it was and Zooropa was horrible. If U2 decide to get there act together and put out another War, Joshua Tree or Boy I'll be the first in line to buy it. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.
