JAYZ NAS , BET has to step it up on next hiphop debate. I miss part 1, but seen part 2 last night. I loved it. I think t.i and nelly made valid points. And the person I was most intrigue by was the Dr. Mike? I believe. He spoke the truth. They need shows like that more often. It would of been good like you said if Jayz, Nas especially and Ice Cube and Ice T could of been on there. Lets not forget Kanye West, he is very outspoken. Them all would of torn through the program, it would of been a wrap. they had some horrible people to represent hip hop

it would have been cool to see mos def, nas, kanye, talib kweli, imortal tech,...but BET is known for banning peoples videos because they are too "smart" for their targeted audience (little brother&de la soul)

and if evil answer, thanks for sayin im one of the top people on this....respect

peace I was NOT impressed with part I or II, to be honest with you. I agree with JZA, they did not have good reprensenation for Hip Hop. Nelly and TI were just rambling and did not make any sense half the time. Nelly made a few good points, but he avoided direct questions the majority of the time. TI used jokes and laughter in place of facts and true conversation half the time. The men on the opposition side did a pretty good job, but the 3 women hardly said anything... The audience, which consisted of mostly "young" women who were like puppets, agreeing with just about everything Nelly and TI said cause they were jockin them. Bottom line: It wasn't very productive. No real breakthroughs. I think they needed stronger, more intellectual rep for Hip Hop and more vocal women on the opposition side (someone similiar to Oprah- seriously). I had Michael Eric Dyson as a professor at Depaul back in 2000 and I simply love that man. He's as dope in person as he is on TV. He made the best points to me out of everyone. To be honest I was very frustrated with some of the things that the rappers were saying, especially Mike Jones. I understand when rap is referred to as a reflection, or mirror of what's really going on in the hood. The reality of what's going on has been hidden for long enough, now it's finally being exposed and expressed in hip hop. But I think hip hop and rap can sometimes serve more than a simple mirror. It's more or less glorifying and exploiting the problems instead of seeking change or turning it into positivity and that's what I have a problem with. Dyson said it best when he referred to MLK "I have a dream." He said if MLK had only focused on the reflection of the problem, he wouldn't have had such a huge impact on America. MLK had a DREAM....that's the key word. He strived for something better and he made achievements in the world with his DREAM. If there's no DREAM, then how can we shatter the mirror of the negative images???? from the information u just listed... it sounded like a disgrace. How do u soil something to crap and then come trying to represent it??? that sounds ridiculous. They had the wrong people to represent hip hop. Nelly didnt even sound smart enough to speak. I dont even see why people were nodding their heads to his answers.

T.I is a lame clown. Making funny faces for attention. The only person that made any sense (but he was using words that were to big) was Michael Dyson. I watched both parts of that mess. It was pointless to have because they have the same rappers up there dancing around the issue, making excuses, and not taking responsibilty for THEIR individual part in this. And we end up with no solution, just more of the same. When are they going to realize that there music has a MAJOR effect on people, especially children. And I agree that the audience was nothing but young kids who agreed with Nelly, TI, etc just because they're die hard fans.

Nelly is bitter about his sister's death and was blaming the sisters at Spelman. He said at one point that everyone has a right to choose, and those women choose NO to his blood drive. You degrade us in your music and in your videos, but you expect us to help you regardless, and get mad when we say no.

And TI showed his immaturity by mocking the guy next to him (I can never remember his name). I couldn't even understand him.

and why was Mike Jones even there???
