or is it the other way around? i know white kids been buying rap music since rap started. so dont tell me its been around forever.
Most of the time, if you’re selling platinum, it’s White kids buying it. The hood doesn’t buy a lot of records. It’s White kids buying it. People don’t realize that’s really who is buying hip-hop these days.

some people just cant afford 12 - 20 dollars cds. bills, gas to pay. impossible sometimes..
or even drive to the store. white or black.some people just dont have the time or money.
but yeah its mostly younger people younger audience period. no matter what color it is.

I'm a jazz, and r&b fan and my wife likes country which I can tolerate,but not a big fan of. I'm white, she is pacific islander(filipina).
You might be correct on white kids buying more ral/hiphop. Our sons prefer metal and death metal. And I do PAY for my cds THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! So what he pays for the cds anyway. If white people like it then buy it, if not go buy something you like. I buy "white people" music too. So let's NOT put RACE on music cause it's no such thing. Well I think it is about the same. The reason why they have more white kids on record as buying more is because the white kids go to the music store and buy the album from there while most black kids will down the street and buy the bootleg copy that does not go on record. While a white kid will spend anywhere from 10-20 bucks on a CD a kid from the hood can get three for 25 bucks. White kids buy more but it's only b/c it's more of them. We(african americans) only make up roughly 13% of the population so that has a lot to do with it. If only a third of them bought rap music it would be more. yeah cuz nowadays people download. lol white kids buy more cds.in fact they are 75% of cd buyers in the past yes. but have u wondered why the south has blown up the way it did? generally people in the south dont spend money on things like computers, blank c.d's by the bulk, highend electronics...are u following what im getting at?

Like when some punk band gets signed it's called selling out, they change musically, it's the same thing with rap, mainstream artist consist of "underground sell-outs", there music is more appealing to a group of people who don't know what really goes on in reality. Blck rap lovers do support our huge underground especially in Atlanta. Like Jeezy for example, he says Atlanta all day long, yet no one here likes him, why? He was born in South Carolina and Lived in a Macon, GA suburb, he moved here after less thana decade ago and he screams our city no fair. Me nor the rest of the hood is buying his stuff, but thank you white kids in between the ages of 13-24 who support ignorance and making us rich, really I appreaciate you all for supporting people who has millions, but doesn't want to pay child support or acknowledge there children. By the way I'm in the industry. Probably so because my friends are black and they hate hip-hop/rap music. I am black and I hate hip-hop/rap music but I love country hip-hop. Doesn't matter. Most of just take the music for free off programs like Limewire etc. You know what I mean. But you probably already knew that. Record sales don't make the artist good. That's the funny thing about all those damn "surveys" they make. They think it's perfect but they forget the variables in the problem. In this case it's that, I'm broke, so I'll just get it off the internet for free.
That being said, I'm not white or black. But I love hip-hop.
