Why are my friends so critical about my music?!

Why are my friends so critical about my music?
My friends like what the average 11 or 12 year old likes (P!ATD, Fall Out Boy, Korn, Maroon 5, etc.) and think that my musical tastes suck. (Primus, Lemonheads, Velvet Underground, Pixies, Replacements, Clash, Dinosaur Jr., Minor Threat, etc.)
However, the bands that I like are musical icons, but my friends are like, "oh they suck, no one likes them, they're old, you're the only one that thinks that they're legends," etc. and the whole f**king school believes them!!! The Beatles are old, do you f**king hate them?? Why and how did this happen? I even got reassurance from 2 magazines!!! (I am still 11, keep in mind, and I got a letter from Highlights and Transworld Skateboarding [my letter published!] both saying that my musical tastes are far more advanced than my friends and they STILL DON'T BELIEVE ME!!!!) Help!!!

Answers:
There isn't much you can do besides cranking up your music and ignoring them. That type of "Flavor of the Month" music will always be around. You'll have the satisfaction of knowing you don't give into musical fads and fade-outs. Maybe you can make a mix CD for your friends with music they like, and slip some of your favorite tunes in.
