Pearl Jam Best Band in our Generation 1985 to now...I think yes?!

Question:

Pearl Jam Best Band in our Generation 1985 to now...I think yes?

I truly believe they are hands down the best band since 1990

They have not sold out and refute against large corporations
They educate people with politics and try to promote a free, noble land
There lyrics are insanely insightful
Eddie Vedder has one of the most amazing voices of all time
Mcready and Ament are true legends behind the guitar and bass

And they are Hands DOWN THE CRAZIEST BEST LIVE BAND to see in concert! I have been to 5....They play straight usually 35 songs straight for close to 4 hours!

And when you answer me Question dont tell me other bands That Sell out and make difference in the world today and bands that are completely ruled by corporations.

And Dont give me a response saying how music artist should Shut up with their opinion and sing? WTF is that? So just sing random meaningless songs that have no reflection or feeling brought into it by ho is singing it. Thats what makes pearl jam so good is that eddie vedder puts all his emotion intoeach

Answers:

While I like PJ, I cannot consider them the best band of a generation. First off any band that has main stream success has "sold out" in some fashion or they wouldn't be heard on main stream radio. That's not to say they don't stick to an agenda, but no popular band is free from corporate influence.

Nirvana was the first band from Seattle to gain much attention, but the whole movement was really begun by a band called Mother Love Bone. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains took their cue from them and hit the big time.

However PJ is not unique in the points you list. Take a band like Metallica, very poignant lyrics discussing such topics as drug abuse, political power abuse, the death penalty, child abuse and abandonment, nuclear holocaust and on and on. They play one helluva live show and their talent cannot be ignored. So PJ does not corner the market on good lyrics, talent or anything else.

Music is largely governed by one's opinion. Your opinion is PJ is the best, my opinion is Metallica and Nirvana were/are more influential than PJ. That's what's great about music. No right or wrong opinions.

You can't just bash folks because they don't agree with your assessment. If everyone agreed, life would be so boring.
