Singing - How do I avoid using my throat for support when projecting?!

Question:

Singing - How do I avoid using my throat for support when projecting?

I use the back of my throat too much for support when projecting loud. A friend of mine confirmed this. I want to know how to stop this habit.

(P.S. Real answers only, please don't tell me to get a vocal coach!)

Answers:

i am definetly not going to tell you to get a vocal coach! i just was having lessons but had to quit because it was way too expensive! but what is funny is that is exactly what i was learning! i was annie in the broadway showannie and had to learn to project,as soon as my voice teacher saw me sing he told me exactly what was wrong he told me i was using my throte! and that was exactly what i was doing! here's a method to try: don't look up! he told me that i was looking up and he could see my veins popping out! he said to look in the mirror and do not look up...oh and make sure you can't see them veins! lol good luck!
