What's the best 'in between' guitar for John Frusciante and Jack White?

Just my opinion ...but Jack White (born John A Gillis), uses a lot of effect, Detroit born and plays with White Stripes, Rolling Stones Mag. had him listed as # 17, of 100 best guitarists, but I think he is one of the best guitarist ever.
John Frusciante plays more Funk & Rock (Red Hot Chili Peppers) has 8 albums plus contributed with his friends Josh Klinehoffer & Joe Lally of Fugazi (sp?).
