Anybody know what kind of guitar this is?

My mom bought me a cheap axe at a garage sale. I'm refurbing it. I'd like to know what type of animal I'm dealing with.

The only markings indicate that it was made in Japan. About an inch above the nut is a metal strap of sorts that strings pass thru on their way to the tuners. The most interesting thing--what I can only guess are used to select pick-ups--are two white switches near the top center of the body.

It is a really common for Japanese companies to copy Fender styles.
