Why would the lawn be closed?!

Question:

Why would the lawn be closed?

I want to go see the Goo Goo Dolls at the Ford Amp. in Tampa, FL and it says the lawn is closed for this event. But then on the right side it says a lawn ticket is $21. Why would they shut down the lawn just for 1 show?

Answers:

The promoter or venue probably doesn't expect this show to sell that many tickets.

I'm not familiar with the venue so I'm assuming it's like most of the "amphitheater" style venues with a covered seated area in front and a lawn section behind it.

If the entire venue was open, the lower level might not fill up. That would make for a strange show.

Not to mention the lower level tickets are usually more expensive.

You could wait it out - if the lower level starts to get full the venue will usually release the lawn seats. No real harm, you wanted to sit in the back anyway.
