Don't you think it's ridiculous that Avril Lavigne is being sued by the Rubinoos?

She claims she's never even heard of the song "I wanna be your boyfriend". I believe her. I'd never heard of it before the lawsuit was filed, and I'm old enough that I should have if it had been anything of a hit.

I just listened to both songs again and again and again...I really don't see enough similarity to make the claim that she stole the song, sorry.

It's a valid lawsuit. Like someone else said, the Rubinoos song didn't have to be a "hit" for them to be able to lay claim to the rights to it. They wrote it and put it on one of their albums.

I've heard of the Rubinoos, but I grant that they are a pretty obscure group. I definitely believe Avril Lavigne never heard the song or heard of the group. She's shown to be pretty ignorant of music in the past. Her co-writer or someone else working with her probably HAD heard the song before, though. And even if it's an unintentional rip-off, it's still a rip-off.

Either way, her song is lame. She should be sued for crimes against music.
