What happened to MXPX?!

Question:

What happened to MXPX?

I just listened to the new MXPX album online and I can't be any more dissapointed. This is really frustrating beacause I have liked them for a long time now and I was expecting much more from them. Will MXPX ever be like they were in the 90's?

Answers:

I hope they don't go back to how they were in the 90's. I have been listening to them for over 10 years. I loved Pokinatcha and their other early albums, but it would be pathetic if they never grew as musicians.

With The Ever Passing Moment, MxPx tried to grow musically (and they did), but the album didn't even resemble anything like Punk Rock.

Secret Weapon has the much of the energy that their old albums had, even though not all of the songs are fast. Plus, the song structures are more complicated and interesting than their early songs. The songs on Secret Weapon have some nice bridges and breaks in them that keep the songs from getting monotonous like some of the songs on Panic were.

This album resembles their live shows much better than their past few albums have (MxPx is one of the best live bands out there), and it's much better than most of the Pop Punk that is out there right now.

I hope you give the new album another listen, and preferably not over the internet. I listened to the whole thing online before I bought it, and the sound quality on the CD is much better.
