I am sure you are speaking of a "pop", "R&B" or "Gospel" run. I personally think that runs are suited for special types of voices. Some voices are fluid and can easily run ALL day. Some voices just naturally don't have "run" characteristics. But if you insist on trying it, do this.

If you know anything about singing scales, sing them gradually fast between the basic tonic. In other words, if you are singing in the key of C, begin singing on middle C and sing every last note between middle C and the C above middle C. Half steps and all. Start moderate, and gradually get faster the further you go. Pick a vowel that make YOU feel comfortable during the exercise. Now try varying the notes in between. Get creative. Get your voice used to faster movement between notes. The more you practice moving your voice, the easier it will be to sing runs. But I truly think some people are just more gifted at it. But with some practice, you can do it too, just not with as much ease. Good luck to you and keep working on it!
