What tools will you suggest to help build my voice to pro singer standard as i have no formal training?

I have never really had any formal vocal training? however I do sing and will truly want to pursue a career along that line. unfortunately I cannot afford this for now. What advice on tools, lifestyle changes can I buy or adopt to lead me on?

I am a vocal teacher, since 1971. You answered you own questions - GET TRAINING!!! Do what you have to do to earn the money. I have spent many thousands of dollars on my education and materials, to get where I am today - which is a fully-employed, well-paid success in the music business. I have NEVER worked outside the business - all in music, including teaching. If I did not have my OWN education first - I'd be working at Sears. Work a second job if you have to, to afford the BEST lessons you can get - not cheap lessons with some local idiot -that is a waste of time and money. If you are currently a student, take advantage of chorus, voice classes, chorus, and anything else that you can get for free - regardless or not if you like the STYLE of music. It's still education and experience.
