Is singing truly God's gift or something that can be nurtured esp when we're sti!

Question:

Is singing truly God's gift or something that can be nurtured esp when we're still young? Thanks galore! =)

I am planning to surprise my guests on my wedding on 2009. Lol! Thanks again!

Answers:

I really agree with Lola. There's a two part answer to your question.

Some people are blessed with WONDERFUL instruments, but they sing badly. This isn't because they don't have a naturally born gift, it is just because they don't know how to sing correctly. Most GOOD voice teachers can hear through all that bad technique and hear a beautiful instrument just waiting to develop. Now a unprofessional may not hear it and say "HE SOUNDS A MESS!" But a professional might hear it and know there is potential in there, and with any talent, all of it needs to be developed. Some just so happen to naturally connect the body better with the voice, and without training you already know that person was born to sing.

On the other hand, there are people who have had all the technique to a TEE, have studied with some of the top musicians, and schools in the world. But THEY STILL STINK! I have seen so many singers who boast about their MBA here and Doctorate there, but when they open their mouths to sing they sound HORRIBLE. Of course, no one wants to hire them UNLESS they are teaching! No application of study can make a "ungifted" voice sound good. It might sound BETTER than it did without training, but if it is a bad instrument, it is just that. I personally think these types of people are selfish. WHY? Because God gave them other gifts to use, but because of ego and pride they force themselves to do things God didn't MEAN for them to do. Most of these people do it because they want to be seen or attention hungry. These are also the most egotistical ones too. Their egos never match their voice. It is almost like it is a fake ego, because they know they don't have it. They just make believe that working hard will make them the best vocalist in the world. Well, if God didn't give it to you, then you are wasting away time that you could have given to the world with your TRUE gifts, but instead pride and ego has caused them to abandon gifts that could actually benefit the world.

Sorry if I got all intricate in the answer, but that's a huge pet peeve of mine. I would LOVE to be able to draw. Now I will draw in my house on a sheet of paper (LOL), but I am not going to waste my time taking art classes to become a artist. I know in my gut that isn't my calling. But if you KNOW the gift is in you, nourish it, and give your gift of song to the world.
