How do i keep my throat from getting dry?

OK... I scream in a Latin/Metal band. If you go to http://www.myspace.com/illnino and listen to the song 'I Am Loco' thats how hard i scream (during the chorus) but my throat tends to dry out extremely quickly and it gets quite painfull. Is there a alternative to 'vocal-eze' spray i can make at home to keep my throat lubed?!

The chorus is about 1:27mins into the song.

If you listen you can see why its so important to keep my throat lubed... and the sort of strength i will need from the product that will lube my throat.

I agree with mamianka above.

Do something for me: Take a single paper towel and soak it with water. Now wring it out until there is no more water coming out. Now, rewet it and do it again. That's kind of what you are doing to your cords. I wish there was something more I could tell you.

One tip is that if you drink water before, during or after singing, do NOT drink ice water.... either room temperature or tepid. Cold water will make the problem worse and can dry you out more in the long run... your cords shrink slightly, forcing water out of them.
