Why did it take so long for "Hey There Delilah" to become popular?!

Question:

Why did it take so long for "Hey There Delilah" to become popular?

I liked it 5 years ago when the album came out. It's such an old song. Why has it taken so long for people to like it?

Answers:

Well, beforehand, the song was popular in indie music and had no airtime on radio or TV. But, recently, after realizing the popularity that the song could attain, the band re-released the song, therefor making it a hit. To be honest, I liked it alot more when it didn't play on the radio; it's getting overplayed majorly.

I guess fame does ruin music.

Good luck!
