Question:

I have a Boss GT Pro. anyone know how to connect effect pedals to it (metal zone, wah wah)??

Answers:

Man thats a sophisticated piece of equipment.

You have 2 different input paths for Pedals
.................................
PRE LOOP>
The one Send/Retun labelled "Pre Loop" is like simply putting a pedal between a guitar and the amp.

"Guitar Side" of Pedal goes to Send on the GT Pro
"Output" side" of Pedal goes to Return on the GT Pro

That has Only One Function..
Guitar>>>>>Pedal>>>> Amp.

It puts Your Guitar And the Pedal Combined as The Original Input Signal,,,,
In Front Of ALLL the GT's Effects and Presets.

.................................
LOOP 1 & 2>>

There's a Pair of them,,,each with their own Send & Return jacks.
They're The same, both do same thing----having a pair just gives you the Option/Choice of having 2 Separate Outboard pedals.

Anything you plug into these is Programable as to "WHERE" You want them in the Effects Chain.

For example:
* Preset >Preset >Wah Pedal>Preset>Metal Zone>Preset

Then wihout Unplugging anything,,just Programming you can change it to:
*Metal Zone>Wah>Preset>Preset>Preset
then,
*Preset>Metal Zone>Preset>Preset>Wah

Or what ever You want.
.................................
In the PRE-LOOP,,,,your pedal becomes "the guitar's sound".
Any thing else will be colored by That as being "the original input signal" ahead of everything else.

In LOOP 1 & 2.....You can "electronically " put the WAH driving an Echo/Reverb/Fuzz/etc,etc,,,
OR,,,,RE-Order the chain of effects and have a FUZZ driving the WAH.

Whole point is based on idea that POSITION in the chain affects the final output tone.

Wah>into>Fuz is a Whole different sound than
Fuz>into>Wah.

Being Programmable lets you "Move them around" at push of a button.

Otherwise,,,you'd be down there switching cables around to Physically change their position & order.
.................................
I don't use much effects,,,so I can't offer any suggestions on "what works best".

But with the programability,,,there's really not much reason to put anything into the Pre-Loop because it then "dominates" everything else.

A Volume Pedal maybe,,,something like that?

Staying away from Pre-Loop keeps your full flexibility,,,without Everything else being colored by a single pedal's effect.

And if you WANT an outboard pedal to be 1st in your chain,,,you can still Program it to be 1st when plugged into Loop 1&2.

Hope that helps,,Have Fun.
