What is the differance between jazz, rock and pop?!

Question:

What is the differance between jazz, rock and pop?

Answers:

Pop is just short for popular. Musically pop songs are usually short, (no more than 4 min. long), and have a melodic hook that will be repeated several times during the song. They follow a simple song formula: Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus, or any simple, short combo thereof. Any kind of instrument can be incorporated in pop, but electronically generated music seems the most prevalent in modern pop music like: keyboards, samplers, computers, electronic drum kits, and synths.

Rock music can be like pop in that shorter songs are the norm, and simple writing formulae usually prevail. Although, some rock music can be almost as complex as Classical and Jazz depending on the genre of the rock group, like Prog Rock. Rock music is usually meat & potatoes instrumentation; guitars, electric bass, acoustic drumkit, and sometimes a piano or organ. It has a harder edge to it musically than pop, and draws a rowdier crowd of fans.

Jazz is easily the most complex of the three. 4-note chords, shuffled, (swing), rhythms, and intricate melodic structure are the musical traits of Jazz music. In addition, much of Jazz is based around improvisation and individual live performance. This is in stark contrast to Pop and Rock where a consistent performance that, "sounds like the album", is the standard. Instrumentation in Jazz is also highly varied: saxophone, trumpet, piano, drum kit, bass, and guitar are all commonplace. Sometimes electronic instruments have been incorporated into modern Jazz-Fusion, and even classical instruments like the violin and xylophone are players in the world of Jazz.
