What is "the best of you" about??

by: foo fighters, usually im really good at figuring songs out, but this song just doesnt make sence to me.. help me out.. easy 10 points guys..

I think when he asks her, "is someone getting the best of you?", it's another way of asking if she's being unfaithful.
If someone other than the person you're with is getting the best of you (everything about you, good and bad), you have to tell them.
When he says, "Are you gone and onto someone new?
I needed somewhere to hang my head
Without your noose.", He's putting it out there.
The part about the noose, is just like saying, "I really want to know if you're being unfaithful to me, but it's gonna break my heart if you are..."
