Heard the back story one day on the radio, ready.
One of the guys from the Plain White Tees had met this girl named Delilah at a few parties of friends. She was going away to Columbia though, so moving soon. Long story short, at a party, he told her to impress her "you know, i wrote a song about you". And she goes "oh yeah, let's here it." Of course he didn't write the song about her, so he got caught, but he picked up a guitar and started making up some lyrics anyway. That is actually where the song came from.
Delilah is now 24, graduated college a handful of years ago and actually practicing for the olympics, but I forget which sport. After that akward first time, the guy and Delilah became friends even though she moved and did talk on occasion.
Heard the story on the 95.5 PLJ Scott & Todd morning show.
