What are sleeves?

Answers:

Keyholing is slow wear to the cymbal's hole caused by it rubbing up against the threads on your cymbal stand.

To avoid it:

1. Make sure you are using new and appropriately sized cymbal sleeves. They are like little tubes go on your stand that rest between your cymbal's hole and the threads.

2. When placing the cymbal on or removing it from the stand, make sure that you are careful and don't scrape that hole against the threads. That sound to a drummer is like gears grinding to a race car driver.
