What is a male high C?!

Question:

What is a male high C?

Is it Middle C or the C above middle C. I read that there is a male who can sing an A above a male high C using his head voice.

Answers:

High C for a male (tenor), singing full voice, is the C above middle C. There are few tenors even at the Metropolitan Opera who can pop these all the time. The last statement in Gianni Schicchi is that note - and on a treacherous vowel (ee).

Of course males can sing higher than that C - they just do it in falsetto. Tenors work all the time at getting a good *mixed* voice - so their full voice and falsetto connect up with no audible change. If you can pull it off, it is to your advantage. NAd head voice and falsetto are not the same thing, either - no time to go into that now!

It is like double-tonguing on the flute ( my instrument) - it is for YOUR comfort in getting passages to speak at a very rapid speed - nobody cares HOW you do it ( single or double, or triple) - they care about what they HEAR.
