Guitar players read:how can I prevent my fingers from getting hard and hurting?

I've recently began to play again and my finger are killing me when im switching chords any advice?

I already have calluses on my 1st and 2nd finger

you can't stop it from hurting. when you develop the calluses (sp?) then it won't hurt, but your fingers will be hard. it all goes with the ability to play guitar :]]
