Answers:

I think the only thing you can do is continue to sing in front of people. Maybe start with a couple of people in a room, then a few people on the street (you can even sing a few strings of a song while shopping at a supermarket, not loud, just enough for people passing to hear) ... then eventually work your way around to talent shows. I've always had the same problem. It gets better, but it doesn't always go away. Sometimes I feel confident, sometimes I get nerves, and I have to remind myself that I can do it. The important thing to remember is that people are people, just like you. A little trivia that blew me away when I first read it: Olivia Newton-John was always my favorite female singer for just about as long as I can remember. Back in the 70s, even way after she had recorded such hits as "If You Love Me, Let Me Know" and "I Honestly Love You", and probably after touring millions of times and performing in front of millions and millions of people, she would still get sick with nerves before going out on stage, and would literally, physically, break down and cry! Then she would step out on stage and give one of the best performances of her life. In the 80s, when she did her "Physical" tour, she described how absolutely nervous she was at Buckingham Palace; so nervous that she slipped and fell in the royal loo! Take it from me ... after I read that, I felt a lot better about my nervousness. The key to overcoming stage fright, is to get better at acting!
