Advice on singing lessons?

I have a good singing voice but I would like to have singing lessons. My voice is quite strong, like Amy lee, Kelly Clarkson etc. I'm not into classical music but Most singers who are classically trained do seem to be better.

I want all the techniques but I'd prefer to sing contemporary stuff instead.

Should I get a classical teacher or just one who will vary the genre more?

Won competitions and been in shows/concerts and choirs just never wanted a singing teacher.

I strongly advise getting a classical teacher, as almost all classically trained singers are able to sing contemporary music.
Classical training not only teaches you how to use your voice in a healthy way, but is also excellent for building up strength, technique and range.

Another thing I have noticed is that classical teachers have a more thorough understanding of both classical and contemporary vocal pedagogy, and will often know more about teaching contemporary singing than teachers of contemporary singing alone.
