Why aren't record companies pushing Conscious hip hop? And why aren't that many !

Question:

Why aren't record companies pushing Conscious hip hop? And why aren't that many kids listening to it?

I've been never big on hip-hop but about 30% of what i listened to up until I finished Junior high (ten years ago) was hip-hop. I basically STOPPED listening to it all together until i discovered conscious hip hop about two years ago.... Why isn't this stuff becoming more popular and why don't record labels promote it?

Answers:

Dude, the last thing record companies want to see is black people waking up from the hazy-dream-drama-hypnotic crap that passes for hip-hop music.

In fact, most of the buyers of the crap-hop are white, and white people love to see negroes making a fool of themselves, talking about shooting and drugs. You think white people are going to buy tickets for Conscious hip-hop?

Sales would plummet. That's why.

True hip hop never gets pushed by the media and that's a GOOD thing.

In fact, you can call hip-hop on big labels "crap-hop" from now on and call underground conscious music by black folks as true hip-hop.

or let me put it to you another way. Imagine you're sitting across from a big record producer. He has his cigar and he's leaning on his desk and he says,

"Look little negro, we know
that we use your own expression
to oppress
But don't take it personal,
yea, we still exploit you
but nowadays
it's just business"
