Can a person really LEARN how to sing?!

Can a person really LEARN how to sing?
We know that there are some people that have a natural talent for singing. but is there the same hope for those of us who dont? i mean i know i dont have an ugly voice but i dont know how to sing. i want to learn, is there any realistic advice out there?

Of course a person can learn to sing. I was NOT a natural singer and I sing professionally now (opera singer). I had to learn step by step and it took more or less about 5 years for me to be able to put things together to make myself marketable.
I agree basically with the longer post above, but not with the belly breathing. Your lungs are housed in your back, and there is where the most of the expansion should begin. If you look at a cross-section of the human body (side to side) you will see what I'm talking about. The fact that you can push your stomach out without breathing is evidence enough that air does not actually go there.
To learn to sing, you must find a good technical teacher that will concentrate on breathing and breath coordination, in addition to resonance and opening the throat, which are all part of one another.
