Is there a correlation between Music and Maths?!

Question:

Is there a correlation between Music and Maths?

I've heard that people that are generally good at maths are good at music. Is this true? What you people think of this?

Answers:

There is a certain amount of mathematical knowledge used in music. For instance, intervals between notes are numbered and if you're looking at the timing, it helps to have some common sense about numbers. Pitch (sound waves) is also measured in numbers- if you've ever seen someone tune a piano, there's a device that gives a reading in numbers. Some people are able to make the correlation between what they hear and a precise measurement.

When I took a music theory class, there were people who swore up and down that they understood it so well because they loved math. But I have to say that I am really bad at math and I understand music, too. It took me a while and I still have trouble reading music, but I find it a lot easier than math.
