What are some similar qualities that can be found in the music from different cultures around the world. What are some differences?
Answers:
The biggest similarity, is that in all music west of China and India, the same 12 notes are used. Never more (but sometimes less). All your favorite songs, all the great classics, all draw from the same pool of 12 notes.
In eastern music, 24 notes are used, which is why it sounds so immediately foreign to our ears.
