Answers:

well the song "wish you were here" by pink floyd can be interpreted in many ways it depends on how you view it although of course it probably means something else to the band well....
"So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain."
could be him questioning someone to make them realize thier problems and to really take a good look at how they should run thier lives and the things that they do and how those things that a person does isnt necessarily the best thing or the right thing at all

"Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?"
this part to me sounds alot about war it might be since right now there is a war going on but it mentions ashes and cold rails and heroes and how people have moved on from the natural beauties of the world just to bring change and to bring other things and to bring things that arent really good for example bringing hot ashes for trees

"And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here "
this also sounds like a resentment towards someone for leaving while trying to accomplish something grand
