Do you have any ideas for a very powerful female song that really shows off what somebody can do?
For a talent show

the most difficult song ever is "Emotions" by Mariah Carey. It goes to ALL registers, including whistle. It's your choice, but I would never suggest this song for a talent show. But if you consider that you can adapt it with your voice, you could try.
Another Mariah songs... "Without you" is good enough to show your voice, it's a good song for altos. "Vision Of Love" and "Hero" are also good.
Whitney Houston is another good choice. "I Will Always Love You" is a good choice, but if you want something less heard, because I'm sure "I Will Always Love You" it's been sung 1000 times, go for "Saving All My Love For You" and "I Have Nothing".
You could also try Celine Dion's "That's The Way It Is" and "Think Twice" - the song with which Kelly impressed the judges from American Idol. "Because You Loved Me", "You And I"... etc
but I would rather go for a simple song that fits me and my voice. be sure you sing what you LIKE!
