Im doing a audition for acting, singing, modeling, and dancing what should i do for my audition?

can i mix them together in some way?

Answers:

It is best if you keep them separate.

The most important things for you to remember are to present yourself in a professional manner, leave adequate time to prepare, and try to make yourself unique (this is important so the auditioners will remember you) but do so without looking psycho.

For singing you need to learn about 30 or 40 bars of a song, in your range, of a song from a less well-known Broadway musical. Choosing a song like this will make you more memorable. This helps you being unique because they will not have heard your song twenty times already.

Know your monologues, at least 2 one minute monologues that contrast. i.e. one comedy and one drama, or one classical and one contemporary. If you want to focus on the acting aspect, learn up to six monologues (if they want to see something else of your acting, be ready). The six are: classical (1 comedy, 1 drama), contemporary (1 comedy, 1 drama), one that will show-off your skills at your best, and one that's outside of your comfort zone. Stay within your gender and age range (i.e. you are not 50 or the opposite gender, don't do monologues about your child unless you have a child, etc...). Keep them appropriate to your life experiences.

You need to dress professionally. Have an outfit that looks presentable. No jeans, tasteful, suits you, and makes you look your best. No low-riders, visible thong straps, etc... Your auditioners don't want to see you showing your butt crack or busting out of your shirt. Be comfortable to move (very important for dancing). Absolutely do not offer to shake hands, shake hands only if they initiate it.

When presenting your monologues, figure out who your character is talking to, why, what your goal is, and where you're supposed to be. Place that imaginary person behind and above the auditioners. Direct your eye contact there.

If you are auditioning for all four aspects, they will likely separate the presentations. However, you might be able to fit the modeling into your general presentation of yourself, if you are professional with your appearance and conduct. Absolutely do not wear a skirt. Cargo pants and a T-shirt would be fine. Clothing should be free of holes.

It will take a significant amount of time for you to prepare for your audition. Please keep this in mind as you get ready.
