Can I get some song suggestions for a party playlist? The people will be in their mid 30's.?

There will also be children, and I am looking for adult contemporary. I am not looking for rap, trance, or hard rock.

Let's see, these are some good adult-alternative options.

-Midlake- This band is one of my recent favorites. Check out the song "Roscoe" and you'll be hooked. Great for that type of crowd.
-Blitzen Trapper- Fun, rock-styled alternative stuff. Check out the song "Wild Mountain Nation"
-Spoon- This band has been around for a while, and they're slowly gaining popularity. Their newest album (oddly named "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga") is really good, but the best ones are their two albums Kill the Moonlight and Gimme Fiction. Check out the songs "Beast and Dragon, Adored", "I Summon You", and "The Underdog". There's tons of good ones from these guys.
-Iron & Wine- This guy is one of the best acoustic songwriters I've ever heard, great stuff for background music at a party. Try out "Boy With a Coin", "Naked as we Came", and "Freedom Hangs Like Heaven".
-TV on the Radio- This band is amazing. Their new album is mindblowing. They are like a mix of an alternative, dave matthews style band mixed with a lot of soul, some funk, some electro stuff, and it's actually pretty much impossible to describe. Check out the songs "Province", "A Method", "Dirtywhirl", and "Wolf Like Me".
-Wilco- As far as adult-alternative style music goes, Wilco is king. They have so many classics. Check out "Kamera", "Jesus, Etc.", "Box Full of Letters", or "Theologians".
