Violin string plucking, vocab question...?!

Question:

Violin string plucking, vocab question...?

Whats it called when you pluck the violin strings?

Answers:

Pizzicato. Bowing normally is called arco. Bowing with the BACKSIDE (wood)is called Col legno. Hitting the strings (bouncing) with the wood is called col legno battuto. There are many MORE string articulations, too - spiccato ( bouncing bow), etc. Ask your teacher to demonstrate them for you!
